Remember Me?

Hello everyone, my name is Eric.  You may remember me from such popular sites as www.ericsplanes.com.  As I was sitting here at my desk today in this literally (used incorrectly for Steve) empty office, I noticed that the date on my page-a-day Origami calendar said January 27th.  My other page-a-day calendar (the one that doesn’t actually require any effort to keep current) reminds me that it is actually July 3rd, not January 27th.  I figured it was time to maybe make some more Origami.  Plus I promised one of our few remaining faithful readers (referenced above) that I’d make a post by the end of the week.  So anyway, here we go.  In the final series of the “pink” themed shapes we have here a lovely party hat (which seems to be missing it’s corresponding three inch party goer), a rooster, a woodpecker, and a fox.  The fox probably ate the party goer and is now eyeing the rooster. 

I hope that you enjoy these lovely shapes and I promise not to make you wait so long for the next batch.

Rowboat and Gnashers (grrr)

Here we have a lovely couple of origamis which are basically the same thing, but one looks scarier. They're called "Rowboat" and "Gnashers"...enjoy!

Letters, Chickens, and Birds (Oh My!)

Today we have a lovely stand-up letter, which I guess is just a way of folding a piece of paper so it looks like a standing-up envelope, for writing notes to people and such (which I of course do not do). It's still cool though. We also have a pecking chicken (which sounds like a Chinese-food dish) and a kiwi bird (which sounds like an exotic drink). I must be hungry. Anyway, enjoy!

Angel Fish and Christmas Trees!

Well happy Martin Luther King, Jr. Day everybody! You're probably surprised to hear from me because I'm not working today and I usually do my folding at work. Well we had the kids' cousins spend the night last night and they wanted to make some Origami, so we downloaded some patterns off of the Internet and made some of our own...Here they are:

Mt. Fuji and The Peace Dove

Sounds like some Japanese romance movie, but it's not...it's my two latest Origami (Origamis? Origama?) Enjoy!

Pelican

Look at this cool pelican, I'm very excited about it. One of my favorites so far. Enjoy!

Peacock and Bathing Elephant

Today we have two very lovely animals for you, a Peacock and a Bathing Elephant. I think we're working on a specific fold because they look somewhat similar. But they're still cool...enjoy!

Panda

Well today we had kind of a fun one (and a little more difficult), the Panda Bear. The black part of the paper is the back and the white parts are the front, which used to be covered in yesterday's instructions. It didn't look very good so I taped some clean white paper over the writing and it looks better now (at least I think so...)

Billfold

Today I made a "billfold", which is kind of ironic because it's actually only big enough to carry around a couple quarters, but you can't tell from the picture. Maybe I'll take it home to my kids and they can make little play money to put it in. Anyway, enjoy!

Another Plane?!?

Well today we have a blast from the past called the stunt plane. Having dabbled somewhat in paper planes myself (perhaps you didn't know that about me), let me just say that I am very unimpressed. But here it is anyway (it doesn't do stunts, by-the-way):

Elephant!!!

Today we made the body that went along with yesterday's elephant head, and here it is:

Pretty funny huh...(Elephants are the coolest animals in the world, by-the-way.)

My First Origami

Well, I made my very first origami today. The basics are the same as paper airplane folding, except there are trickier steps (like accordion folding). These are also trickier because there are no lines on the paper to follow, and no words in the instructions (just pictures). But I think I'll manage. Today I made a cup (wa-hoo) and a boat. I also made an elephant head, but we're making the bottom tomorrow, so you'll have to wait and see it all together. It's weird because some of my creations are 2-d and some are 3-d. I hope you all enjoy them as much as I do...

New Look!

Welcome everyone, and welcome to the new ericsplanes.com, now entitled Eric's Origami! You may have noticed a new look and feel to the site, but the premise is still the same. Every day I'll try to make something exciting out of paper, take a picture of it, and post it here. You can still get here via www.ericsplanes.com, and still see all the old planes in the archives section. If you want to follow along with your own Origami calendar, here's what it looks like:

I know I've been quite the airplane making slacker lately, but I skipped to the end of the year and made the final two planes, an Arrowwing and a Eurofighter...here they are:

An Unfavorable Review

Hello all...

One of our alert readers has notified me of a somewhat unfavorable review of ericsplanes.com at http://letterstoangels.blogspot.com/2008/11/exciting-world-of-blogging.html, stating something about Eric himself needing to get a life (what audacity!) So all of you should comment on her blog stating how much you love Eric's Planes, and how hurt and offended you are by her remark.

5 Whole Planes!!!

Well, since many of you are more committed to Eric's planes than Eric himself is, I figured I should probably give you all some more planes. Here are five lovely planes today, from the Starship STS-006 (the sixth one I've built this year) to the Blackbird SR-71, I hope you enjoy them all!

3 More Planes

Here are some lovely Monday-like planes for everyone! The Wide-Wing is one of my favorites, which is why I took a picture of it "in flight" (plus it looks better from the bottom...) Anyway, enjoy and happy Monday.

Next Year Is Almost Here!!!

Technically speaking next year, like tomorrow, will never actually arrive, but it will definitely get close. Which brings me to my next question: What is to become of ericsplanes.com next year? My calendar runs out at the end of the year, by which time I'm hoping to be caught up. But what then? Some have suggested getting a different paper airplane calendar, others have suggested something different but related like Origami, while others yet (Kara!) have suggested that I get a real hobby. To them I say thbbbt! Anyway, if anyone has any suggestions (or wants to buy me a new calendar), I'm always open to ideas. I only leased ericsplanes.com for a year, so if we want to keep this train running, we should decide quickly.

Square Wing (in-flight)

Here we have a lovely photo of the "Square Wing" flying through our shop by the (lovely, if I do say so myself) hands of me, Eric. (Note the cactus...) When I actually let go, it just fluttered to the ground like a wounded bird. Very sad. Anyway, enjoy!

Some Planes

Here are three lovely planes for those of you who have stuck with us through these perilous times. I really like the blue one, although it flew the crappiest (is that a word?) The red one actually flew quite fast, which was kind of fun. Sorry again for the delay...hopefully the next one won't be quite as long! :) Enjoy!

A Couple O Planes

Well we're nowhere close to being caught up, but here are some lovely planes to keep you all at bay. The flying fish (the one with eyes) only has patterns on the bottom of its wings, which is why the picture is kind of screwey. I don't even remember what the other one is called, since I made it last week. I just didn't have enough free desk space to take its picture. If I have some time, I'll do more later. But happy Friday everyone!!!

We're Back!!!!

Well hello everyone out there! (hello? anyone out there?) I apologize deeply for the long pause in posts. It has been super crazy at work lately because school started last week here. The week before and week after school starts are always crazy. Well I'm hoping things have calmed down a little (but no promises), so I have a special plane for you today. It's not a paper airplane, it's a wooden glider courtesy of the Arcadia Fire Department (whoever that is). It flies very straight and smooth, quite unlike most of my planes. I promise to try and get caught up with the other planes.

3 Planes!!!

We have three lovely planes for you today, the Flying Boxcar, Catch It (which I didn't...) and Flying Wing. The boxcar is always a fun one, but kind of hard to fold. The Catch It flew the best of the three (which isn't saying much), and the Flying Wing isn't even a plane, it's just a piece of paper folded in half a bunch of times. Oh well...enjoy!

Airliner CRJ700 & Sideslip

A lovely duo here, the famous "Airliner CRJ700" and the infamous (?) "Sideslip". Neither flew rather well, although the sideslip definitely flew better. But hey...they look cool. The airliner folded especially well for me today, but the sideslip gave me some troubles. Anyway...enjoy!
